What is an emerging venture capital fund manager?

An emerging venture capital (VC) fund manager, commonly called solo GPs or solo capitalists, refers to a General Partner of a relatively new VC firm. Unlike established VC firms, emerging funds typically don't have Analysts, Associates, a platform team, or additional Partners to help run the fund. So, emerging VC fund managers do it all – investing, raising money from LPs, and supporting portfolio companies.

How much money do solo GPs manage?

Most solo GPs are raising between $5 million and $20 million for their first funds. With good results, they can typically raise between $20 million and $150 million for their next fund. Of course, outliers do exist. Zeev Ventures, a very successful one-person fund run by Oren Zeev, has $2 billion in assets under management.
