Cava’s momentum continues
Cava’s focus on hospitality has helped insulate the brand amid a challenging environment.

Cava has emerged as a clear winner for 2024 among the growing fast-casual segment.
According to its earnings release,
- Cava posted 18.1% same-store sales growth in Q3 2024
- Average unit volume jumped to $2.8MM, a $200K increase from the year-ago period
- Third quarter traffic surged 12.9%
- Added 63 net new restaurants since the same period last year, representing 21% growth
Cava invested in its dine-in experience to boost sales this year, a departure from the playbook of other fast-casual competitors that focus on drive-through and takeout. Earlier this year, Cava launched “Project Soul” to create a more inviting physical space for consumers. Cava also revamped its loyalty program to create a “cohesive physical and digital journey for guests.”
Much of Cava’s recent success can be attributed to its bet that the demise of the dining room has been greatly exaggerated and that people are desperate for warm, welcoming places to enjoy a meal.
