Mental health companies target election stress

Election stress is a real thing.

One survey found that 73% of U.S. adults felt anxious about the election. In response, some well-known mental health companies started campaigns to address it:

  • Calm is offering half off its premium subscription to help members “navigate election stress”
  • Headspace has an election season survival guide

Calm reported that the platform has seen a rise in subscriptions due to these election initiatives.

Election stress is just the tip of the iceberg—Americans are more stressed than ever. Nearly half (49%) of Americans in 2023 say they frequently experience stress, up 16 points over the past two decades and the highest in Gallup’s trends to date.

As depressing as it sounds, a stressed-out America is good business for mental health companies.
