The consumer is changing, and sobriety is cool again.

The world’s largest brewers are looking to corner the non-alcoholic beer market, defined as a beer with an alcohol content under 0.5%, the only part of the beer market that’s really growing:

  • Non-alcoholic beer has a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.6% since 2018, versus 0.3% for alcoholic beer
  • Only 62% of U.S. adults say they drink alcohol, down from 71% in the 1970s.

Heineken 0.0 is the current global leader in the non-alcoholic beer market, with AB InBev’s Suntory All-Free brand and Brahma 0.0% rounding out the top three.

While advertising to sports fans is part of a trend accelerating non-alcoholic beer sales, the taste will determine its success. The hottest beer in America is alcohol-free.
