Why Tesla Owners Are Hiding Logos

A lot has been written about why Tesla’s car sales have plunged in several markets to start the year—new competitors showing up left and right, various countries ending subsidy programs, and Musk’s politics.

However, it may simply be that prospective EV buyers no longer feel safe in a Tesla—not because the car’s safety features are lacking, but due to the increasing incidents of vandalism and vehicle damage.
On Monday, more than a half dozen Tesla charging stations near Boston were torched in a fire that appears to have been intentionally set, according to police.
Last week, there was a suspected arson attack at Tesla’s Berlin factory, and a woman tried to burn down a Tesla dealership in Colorado. Recent reports also suggest that some Tesla owners are removing or modifying their vehicle logos out of concern for vandalism and safety.

Safety is now a legitimate concern that could be deterring would-be Tesla buyers.
