South Korea is seeing growing demand for luxury retirement homes.
Such homes resemble a 4-star resort more so than a nursing home or assisted living facility. The Signum Haus, a luxury 230-unit facility in upscale Gangnam, includes indoor golf practice ranges, a movie theatre, meditation rooms, and fine dining.
At least 9 major projects for private luxury retirement homes have been announced in South Korea, the most of any year in the past decade, representing billions of dollars of investment.
Developers see a similar business opportunity arising in America, where the vast majority of the population is also aging rapidly.
Some examples include Risor in the Twin Cities and Avidor in Chicago.
