Creating a website from scratch can seem daunting, but it can be a relatively easy and straightforward process with the right tools and resources. One platform that is gaining popularity for business owners is Webflow. In this blog, we'll guide you through creating a website using Webflow in 1 hour or less.

1. Sign up for a Free Webflow Account

The first step is to sign up for a free Webflow account. Click the "Get started - it's free" button in the top right corner of the Webflow homepage.

2. Clone a Made in Webflow Website

The second step is to clone a Made in Webflow website. Make sure the "Cloneable sites only" toggle is on, and use the search to find the type of website you want. In this example, I want to make a car website.

There will be a popup where you can name your site, then click the blue "Create site" button below.

3. Edit your Website

The third step is to edit your website. You now have a structure for your website, so just update the text and images.

To edit the text:

  • Double-click the element or select it and press enter

To replace an image (Webflow video tutorial):

  • Select the image on the canvas
  • Go to Element settings panel > Image settings.
  • Click Replace image to open the Asset panel.
  • Choose an existing image or upload a new one.

4. Buy your Domain

I recommend using Google Domains or GoDaddy to purchase your domain name. You can read this article for more information on considerations to make when selecting your domain name.

In this example, I used Google Domains to purchase my domain name. I can see that I found an exact match for the domain name that I was looking for, it's $12/year, and I can purchase it by clicking on the cart icon button to the right.

5. Connect your Domain and Publish!

Follow the video tutorial to connect your custom domain and publish. Your website is live on the Internet! Congrats :)
