Retailers are still grappling with a surge in retail crimes and looking for new solutions.
The latest experiment: body cameras similar to the ones police officers wear.
Walmart employees are now wearing body cameras in some stores. Employees at TJX Companies (TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, HomeGoods) have also been using body cameras.
Time will tell if the strategy produces the desired outcomes, but it can’t be worse than the last experiment, locking up merchandise, which caused sales of items to drop 15-25%.
