‘Share My Date’
Have you ever screenshotted a dating profile of someone you’ve matched with and sent it to a friend?
Tinder, the popular dating app, wants to make your life easier.
On Monday, Tinder announced its “Share My Date” feature that allows users to send a link to share their date plans directly with friends and family.
Recipients of the link will be able to view:
- The match’s full profile (photos, name, age, etc.)
- Meeting location
- Date and time of the meetup
The “Share My Date” feature was conceived based on Tinder’s data, which revealed that 51% of singles under 30 already let their friends know the details of their dates.
While many people share dating profiles and details with friends for safety reasons, others want to crowdsource their friends’ opinions on their dates’ attractiveness. Tinder’s “Share My Date” feature plays at people’s need to seek validation from their friends. Tinder knows that if your friends also think he/she is attractive, then you’re more likely to go on the date.
The “Share My Date” feature is also an interesting user acquisition play. By reducing the friction of sharing date details, more people will send them to friends. As a result, the feature could help them reach new audiences or reactivate old users as people get reminded of their friends going on dates.
Swiping right is always better with a little help from your friends!
