AI is already advanced enough to take your job.
That’s according to Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski. A year ago, Klarna stopped hiring in favor of investing in artificial intelligence to do the work of hundreds in various departments. Since then, Klarna has reduced its headcount by 22% to 3500.
The company boasts 200 people using AI for their core work and Klarna said earlier this year that its AI assistant powered by OpenAI is doing the work of 700 full-time customer support agents.
Analysts have rewarded Klarna’s investment in AI, who now value the firm at about $14.6Bn, up from the $6.7Bn in July 2022.
