Some U.S. airlines are investing in free, fast in-flight Wi-Fi to attract higher-paying business travelers.
Following Delta Airlines’ footsteps, United Airlines will be the second legacy U.S. carrier offering free Wi-Fi to travelers through a new partnership with Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink.
Although business travelers only account for 12% of airlines’ passengers, they represent as much as 75% of some airlines' profits since they tend to buy more expensive seats, last-ticket upgrades, etc.
Wi-Fi is a make-or-break factor for airlines. 92% of business travelers said they would rebook with an airline that offered quality in-flight Wi-Fi.
